NYPD ID CARD RENEWAL

PROCEEDURES FOR OUT OF TOWN MEMBERS TO OBTAIN NYPD ID CARDS:

  1. Proxy renewal is available ONLY to members living outside of the five (5) boroughs of New York City and the 5 counties in which active members are permitted to live.
  2. ONLY ID cards issued after November 1, 2002, can be renewed in this way. In all other circumstances, members will have to personally visit One Police Plaza.

Cards may be renewed within 6 months of the expiration date. The expiration date will be increased from 5 to 8 years. A Retiree Application form must be fill out and accompany the ID for renewal. The form is included on the Links page of this website for download.

THE RSA IS AUTHORIZED TO DELIVER MEMBERS CARDS TO ONE POLICE PLAZA AND RETURN SAME TO MEMBER.

To insure security in the transfer of the ID cards to and from our members, the following procedure MUST be adhered to:

  1. Items MUST be sent to us in a USPS Flat rate Priority Mail envelope. You will receive a tracking number with this service, DO NOT REQUEST SIGNATURE OF RECIPIENT service. The cost of postage $9.90.
  2. Place in envelope: PD ID card, the completed PD Retiree Application form, and a check or money order in the amount of $9.90 made out to the Retired Sergeants Association ( this is to cover the cost of priority mail return of your new card).
  3. Address package to:

Please allow for up to a 30 day turn around time.

Please do not deviate from the above instructions in order to allow timely return of your ID card.
