As stated in our previous email, NYC Office of Labor Relations (OLR) and the Municipal Labor Committee (MLC) have been in discussions to change the base Medicare Retiree Plan from a traditional model (GHI-Senior Care) to an Employer sponsored Medicare Advantage Group Plan. This change affects the majority of Medicare qualified members and their spouses that are enrolled in the NYC Health Benefits Plan.

On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, we held our General Meeting on Staten Island and received very important and informative information about these changes from Errol Ogman, Health & Welfare Administrator for the SBA. Errol’s part of the meeting was recorded and is now available to our membership. Members who were unable to attend were requested to forward questions, prior to the meeting, and Errol made every effort to answer questions submitted.

Please do not respond to this email with questions. As of this time no decision as to the carrier has been determined. As more information becomes available, updates will be sent out and our website will be updated.
